Opening
Time ripens all things
Time ripens all things
the ants work away at the peony to unfurl its petals
slowly opening in the morning,
the bud miraculously transformed into full bloom
sweet flower of June ripening
the moon rising from the horizon
Glowing orb, soft pink then orange then yellow
rising higher into the celestial web
our own light reflected
a reminder of our own death
crater: the consequence of time and impact
fireflies light the field in a glowing dance
igniting the darkness like lanterns
peering out like beacons in the night
serenaded by frogs singing and
the owl calling out for its mate
there is no waste here
no termination
all life in regeneration
opening
enter the water and dance.
Abstract
Nature reverberates across the frontier
Flowing and draped in colorful silks
She dances and sways in the night wind
Darling lilac
Dressed in violet ice
the lightening bugs
roam among the seaside villas
on the porch and among dune grass
Abstract 2
Stereotypes yell out in schools
Echoing in their tight skirts
Constrained and muttering under their breath
Paint Chip Poem
A small pine needle falls gently
in a grassy meadow
I see the mountain covered in thistle
From my porch
Flood waters will be here soon
And the world aglow in mystic purple
Newspaper Found Poem
Words from a newspaper
debate over two items
an Education director
A distracted female
A revamped exam
An annual ritual
Students long past college, sufficiently vetted
Gender bias and stereotype threat
Test prep experts analyze a woman’s place in the home
Race, Sex
More boys than girls
Test anxiety
Arguing Fairness
Older iterations thoroughly vetted
A representative sample of comparable ability
Gender fairness
Verbal skills
Wealthier children
Poorer ones
Industry gaps persist
Overhaul
Men wield their influence in domestic spheres
Divine law, a lower station
Touched by controversy and placement
Linger in the rubber room of cognitive fatigue
Ruminating on gender roles
Historical context
You stand on a rock that glistens in the black sun
mouth gasped to say
this shall befall us too.
